Hot August Nights ðŸĪ™ðŸž

I’m back in the swing of things! I was actually looking forward to getting back to work. Fortunately, I love what I do, so I enjoy working and helping people. I’m happy I don’t have a job that I dread. I’ve talked to many people who don’t like their job but have to do it just to make money. I'm so grateful that I'm lucky enough to have found a healthcare service, where I could serve humanity and enjoy the process.

I switched the order of operations with my food plan. I now eat my steak & eggs at lunchtime. I also eliminated coffee and cream. I actually stopped coffee about 2 weeks ago. I love drinking coffee but I want to give my body a break for a while. I’ve done this several times in the past and I have always come back around to drinking coffee again. I definitely have cut back a lot on my coffee consumption before I stopped completely. For several years I was drinking a pot of coffee every day, which is equivalent to 10 cups.

The exercise plan is right on track. My legs are feeling really good and I finally don’t have pain in the area of my abductor where I tore it about 8 weeks ago. I’m starting to pile on the weight and feeling good again. The key is consistency and eventually your body will heal and get stronger.

The spine care plan is working well and I have started utilizing the foam roller more. I have a firm roller with a groove that allows space for the spinous processes. This allows me to mobilize my thoracic spine more effectively.

Enjoy this beautiful weather we’ve been having. The summer is going out with a bang!

Last Days of Summer ðŸ˜ģ

I just got back from Hawaii for about a week and I had a wonderful time. Luckily, I was in Oahu and that island was not impacted by the fires in Maui. However, the locals in Oahu were lamenting over the tragedy.

The weather in Hawaii was super-hot but surprisingly not humid at all. My previous vacations to Florida and Texas were great examples of what bad humidity is like. When I was in Florida, I couldn’t even sit on the beach because it was just too hot. Even at night, it would be a little better but the humidity was the same.

Unfortunately, the whole time I was in Hawaii, I didn’t follow my food plan at all. I was going out to eat with friends and basically jumped on the bandwagon and ate with everyone. The food was decent but expensive. Hawaii is like Vegas on the beach. Your typical tourist trap where everyone eats, drinks, and shops till they drop. I was there for a Marine Corps. reunion, so it was all good.

As soon as I got home, I jumped right back onto the Chiropractic Lifestyle Food Plan. I have to admit that the first day was rough because I think your body gets used to eating crappy food and wants to continue eating the crap. It’s almost like a drug; once your body gets a taste, it wants more.

But now I’m fully back in the swing of things. My food plan is going awesome, I’m back in the gym, and living the dream. I hope everyone is enjoying these last days of summer. Because you know when pre-season football starts, fall is right around the corner.

Beautiful Days Ahead 🌞

Summer seems like it just started but Fall will be here before you know it. There’s still plenty of time to go to the beach and enjoy some sunshine. If you are going on the weekend, make sure you leave before 9 am and you can come back early, or you can stay late. But it’s hard to perfectly time the best time to come back. If you come back really late, I think you would beat the traffic. Otherwise, it’s stop-and-go for over an hour all the way over the hill.

The Chiropractic Lifestyle food plan is going great. I love the combo of meat, dairy, and fruit. I’m actually considering stopping the whey protein shakes for a while and just sticking to some ground beef and rice. I want to experiment to see how my body likes not having the whey protein every day. I would also be increasing my carbs a bit by adding rice. If you’re a regular follower, then you would know that I used to eat quinoa, eggs, broccoli, and carrots every day. But the key to the CLF plan is diversity, flexibility, and consistency. When you make a change to the plan, you have to stick with it for a period of time to see how your body likes it.

My workouts have been consistent and my legs are finally getting stronger again since my last abductor injury. I’ve noticed that my muscles have taken longer to heal as compared to when I was younger. I used to be able to work through injuries and they would just go away. But now they seem to linger and take longer to heal. My theory is that my testosterone levels continue to drop as I age, so lower testosterone may be correlated with longer healing times for muscles.

My spine care is on track. I keep my spine in alignment by performing regular core stabilization exercises, mobility work, and stretches. Remember, spine care consists of mobility, alignment, and strength. The strength refers to core muscle strength which are the small muscles that surround your spine to stabilize the spine during motion. You can actually have strong primary movers but a weak core which will predispose you to injury and spinal misalignment. Like anything you do, it’s a combination of different things that help you achieve a goal.

Enjoy these last days of summer and keep working towards your goals every day!

Live Your Life 🙏

I hope everyone had a fantastic week living your best life! We are already into August and time isn’t slowing down for no one. The good news is that if you can discipline yourself to create new consistent healthy habits, time will pass faster than you think and your health will improve. Anything that’s new is hard to get used to. In the beginning, it takes desire and willpower. Everything will get easier if given enough time.

I didn’t have any big changes to the food plan. I’m cruising right along and I have implemented a “cheat day”. I actually enjoy my food plan so much that I usually don’t require eating other types of food. But sometimes I like to have some popcorn or go out to eat with some friends. Flexibility helps with sustainability.

The exercise plan is consistent and working well for me. During this summer I have gone on some fun hikes and walks around the neighborhood. This weather we have been having is amazing.

Enjoy your week and take advantage of your time off and go on an adventure!
