Back to School 📚

Bye-bye July, hello August! Wowza, it’s hard to believe we are heading into football season and back to school. This summer is just flying by.

I’m hoping to have some fun before summer is all done. I will be taking a trip to Tampa next month. I heard it’s hotter than three dogs in a hen house, so I’m hoping for a nice sea breeze.

The food plan is going strong. I’m surprised I’m not getting super hungry in the evening because I’m usually done eating by about 1 pm every day. My workouts are more vital than ever and I’m doing all the work about an 18-hour fast.

I’ve always thought it’s interesting how some people think they need to eat before they work out. I’ve been working out on an empty stomach for a very long time now, and I’ve never experienced deficiencies in my performance.

This is a great lesson to understand that you must try things yourself and not make decisions based on what other people say. You really never know anything until you try it.

I hope everyone has a fantastic last weekend of August. If you see me at the beach come up and say hi.

Proactive Health Care ðŸĪ“

The key message this week is that you have to prioritize your health to maintain normal optimal function as you age.

A concept called the Selective Optimization and Compensation Theory explains how people will adapt to functional limitations by optimizing things they can do in order to compensate for what they can not do. This is normally a consequence of the aging process. Our bodies do not last forever and they will definitely degenerate over time until we die. The good news is that your body will last a lifetime if you consistently take care of your body. The best way to do this is by living the Chiropractic Lifestyle. This approach has been proven to be the best way to maintain lifelong optimal function and self-efficacy.

It has been reported that in the last 6 months of a person’s life 50% will end up in the hospital due to functional limitations, frailty, dementia, and caregiver exhaustion. Ironically, a very small percentage of people are in the hospital due to a disease process. The number one reason for hospitalization is functional limitations. Therefore, the lifestyle you lead now will determine your future.

If you are young, you may think you have plenty of time. However, an accumulation of stress and neglect can lead to premature functional loss. Now is the time to be proactive and practice healthy habits that I teach, promote, and recommend.

I will continue to lead the way and be the change for inspiration, motivation, and belief for people who are willing to listen and practice what I teach. The choice is yours.

Summer Fun in the Sun 🌇

I hope everyone had a great week living life and staying healthy. I’m sticking to the routine and staying consistent.

No changes to my food plan so far. I haven’t gotten sick of chicken and eggs yet. I think eggs are essential due to the high levels of cholesterol, saturated fat, and other vital nutrients. I’ve been eating 6 eggs every day now for the past 12 years. Every time I get my blood work done at the VA, my results are always within the normal range. I’m not sure why people are told cholesterol leads to heart disease. More recent research reveals the lurking variable is diets high in sugar or carbohydrate consumption. However, federal guidelines have not changed their recommendations. ðŸĪ·

The workouts are strong and awesome. I started combining my shoulder workout with my arms. This actually shortens my rest periods between muscle groups. So, I will experiment and see what difference it makes in my recovery and exercise quality.

I hope you all are enjoying this amazing weather and getting outside. We are so lucky that we don’t have the humidity like most other places do in the US.

Blast from the Past 🌋

I love all my fingers and toes, and I hope you still have all of yours ðŸ’Ĩ

We are all off the hook from the holidays for a while. Now, we can just enjoy the warm days ahead and love life.

The food plan is going stronger than ever. If you like chicken, I recommend Foodmaxx for the best prices in the area.

I’m still going strong with the exercise plan to help my mobility and strength. I’ve decided to skip cardio on the day after leg day. I'm doing this because I have noticed that a day or two after leg day, I have pulled muscles in my hamstrings doing cardio. This also happened a lot when I neglected to do my daily stretching.

As we age, we must prioritize mobility, flexibility, and strength. This helps preserve motion, prevent muscle loss, and maintain functional capacity. Your body is like a machine and must be maintained. It will eventually fail if you neglect your responsibilities to keep your body healthy.

Following the Chiropractic Lifestyle addresses all the elements of health and facilitates optimal lifelong function. Nothing to it but to do it. I’m making it really easy for you. Just follow my lead.
